Simon Leschallas

The Champagne Academy has lost a friend and colleague. We are very sad to announce that Simon Leschallas has passed away unexpectedly.

Simon was a true professional in every sense and his loss will be most keenly felt by his many colleagues and friends.  He served the Champagne family and industry unfailing, and we are indebted to him for his loyalty, friendship, and generosity.

Please see below a statement from Alice Archer our Chairman:

The Champagne Academy heard with great sadness of the sudden death of Simon Leschallas at home on 18th July.  We send our sincere condolences to his family.

Simon was made an honorary member of the Champagne Academy in 2008, as being connected to the champagne house of Bollinger, where he had been a director for 29 years, he had not been eligible to go on the Course.  This is an honour that has been conferred on only 6 past members of the champagne trade to thank them and to recognise their contribution to the success of the Champagne Academy.

Any further details of funeral arrangements will be posted on our web site in due course.
